Social Media Marketing: How Important is Timing?

In Missouri, it gets really hot this time of year.  I like to run early in the morning, when it is 20 degrees cooler.  The heat in July and August can be unbearable.

I know where I’m going to run.  I also know why I’m going to run and when is a good time to go.  Far too many worms haven’t figured it out yet.  I can’t tell you how many times I see worms on the side of the road heading on to the blacktop just as traffic is starting to pick up, along with the heat.

I know most of them are not going to make it to the other side.  It isn’t because they aren’t capable. It isn’t because they aren’t motivated. It isn’t necessarily because they are going in the wrong direction. The bottom line is that timing is everything.

If they start their journey in the middle of the night when there is no traffic, the probability of getting run over is greatly reduced.  The pavement isn’t as likely to heat up and cook them either.

As you make your business decisions, about when and where to begin your social media marketing, email marketing, video marketing, or mobile and text message marketing campaigns, let me encourage you to consider the importance of timing.   It isn’t enough to be going in the right direction. You need to know when to take the leap and here’s a hint… sooner is probably better than later.
