Social Media Marketing and Online Marketing Follow Up

An acquaintance of mine enjoyed the majority of his career in the arena of mobile marketing.  If you’ve ever visited a major public event or festival and witnessed the huge vehicles and/or trailers full of interactive exhibits promoting different products or services, then that is the type of on-site, mobile marketing I’m talking about.

The groups of people he worked for invested large sums of financial resources and time to promote their brands and services.  He informed me that millions of moms, dads and kids had toured their mobile marketing exhibits.  Would you like to guess what happened after they did?

Nothing happened and that was the problem.  The displays didn’t gather a single lead. His clients had figured out how to get discovered, but failed to capture important contact data.  There wasn’t a follow up system in place to convert prospects into clients.

As my co-author Allen Minster always says when it comes to online marketing, “If you’re going to pay for it, you better figure out a way to get paid for it.” So, if you don’t have a way to capture leads or a way to follow up consistently and turn them in to customers, don’t waste your money until you do.
