Social Media Marketing & Internet Marketing: Content Focus

By Mason Duchatschek

Nobody likes to spend time around people who are self absorbed and brag too much.  It doesn’t matter if it is online or offline.

When I’m on the Internet, do you know what drives me nuts, just prior to clicking and moving on to a different website? It’s when I start examining a video or other content piece that can’t stop talking about how great the author’s company is or how many years they’ve been in business.

Here’s a question.  Who, besides the author, even cares?  Answer?  Nobody.   However, that doesn’t stop well intentioned individuals trying to apply what they presume are social media strategies from raving about how great they are, which only drives away the folks want to engage.

When discussing online marketing, email marketing, video marketing, article marketing, and social media marketing  your content should be targeted at two things.  Those two things are solving problems and sharing opportunities that will assist the individuals you want to reach.

Quit talking about how great you think you are and start discussing topics that can make your clients, friends and prospects great instead. You’ll be glad you did.
